Maple syrup has always been in demand to flavor food and a best substitute for sugar. People use this syrup in variety of foods. But still many are unaware of whether the maple syrup they are using is pure or not. The best way to identify is to look for the labels, “pure maple syrup”. But just the labels cannot prove the story.
It has been found, the Maple Syrup we consider as pure are actually high fructose corn syrup flavored with either maple extract or small amount of maple syrup. To procure the pure syrup one needs to know certain things about the types of labels on them and what actually they mean. The one with the label Table syrup means a maple flavored syrup, maple blend or blended syrup has a very small amount of pure maple syrup and same with the pancake syrup.
No doubt the pure maple syrup is sold at exorbitant price and is usually graded. The graded syrups are widely used for they are considered to be pure and the grades differentiate the syrup of its color, taste and flavor.
