A sausage basically is a prepared food product made from ground meat, animal fat, salt and spices. Sausage making is quite an old technique of food preservation. Sausages may be preserved by curing, drying in cool air or smoking.

Along the years sausages have found their profound use in many famous delicacies. Sausages are frequently coupled with syrups like maple syrup to add richness to these food preparations. Some popular Maple Sausage Recipes include:

Maple Sausage and Waffle Casserole:

In order to prepare a lightweight breakfast casserole, take frozen waffles whose airy, fluffy texture keeps the casserole’s texture light and add whole milk for a cleaner, light flavor. Then augment the flavor of the maple flavored sausage with additional maple syrup. To ensure that the waffle absorbs the custard, weight the casserole overnight with cans or heavy pan.

Maple Sausage Patties:

These light and tasty patties are easy to prepare and take up very less preparation time. All you need to do is to mix ground pork, maple syrup, salt, onion powder, rubbed sage, dried thyme, poultry seasoning, ground nutmeg, pepper and mesquite liquid smoke in a large bowl. Mix well and then shape these into 2 ½ in. patties. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. Cook patties in a nonstick skillet till the meat is no longer pink.

Grilled Maple Sausage and Egg Burrito:

Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp butter in a sauté pan. Place onion, sausage and red bell pepper in the sauté pan and cook for 3 minutes. In a bowl, mix milk and egg together. Add egg to the sauté pan and stir while the egg cooks. Once the egg mixture is cooked, divide mixture among each tortilla. Sprinkle cheese and cilantro over egg. Roll each tortilla into burrito and grill on both sides in a hot pan.

Sausage Stuffing with Maple Corn Bread:

For this, sauté sausage in a heavy large skillet until cooked through, breaking up finely with back of fork, about 10 minutes. Using slotted spoon, transfer sausage into a large bowl. Melt butter in same skillet and add apples, onions and celery stalks, sauté until very tender. Add celery leaves and then add mixture to bowl with sausage. Stir corn bread into sausage mixture. Whisk eggs and mix into stuffing.
