Maples have for long been used as an efficient replacement for sugars. This is chiefly the reason why we find so many recipes, from cookies to jams and jellies, being made with maple syrups. Maple syrups are often coupled with fruits to prepare tasty jams like Apple Maple Jam.
Although one can get these jams at any of the retail shops, for all those people, who are phobic to preservatives and chemicals used in food products, you may very well prepare these jams right at your home. Here is what you need to do:-
Home Made Apple Maple Jam Recipe:
Ingredients:
• 3 q Finely chopped apples (about 6 pounds)
• 6 c Sugar
• 1 c Maple syrup
• 1 t Cinnamon
• 1⁄2 t Allspice
• 1⁄2 t Nutmeg
• 1⁄4 t Cloves
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pot. Then, bring slowly to a boil. Cook rapidly to jellying point. As mixture thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking. Pour hot into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space. Adjust the caps. For ten minutes, process in boiling water bath. This yields about 8 half pints.
